Starting from Uncertainty

There's a wonderful quote from Francis Bacon that reads,
“If a man will begin with certainties, he shall end in doubts, but if he will be content to begin with doubts, he shall end in certainties.”
The posts listed on the right explore the ways in which starting from doubt or uncertainty can lead to interesting results. We investigate and explore data by simulating and modeling various data-centric phenomena. We try to get a better grip on these simulations by looking for patterns that arise from them. We slice and dice and visualize to better understand what data we have and the kinds of things we can do with this data. We arrive at creative ways to measure things that can be slippery to quantify.
